Welcome! Thank you for visiting the KBray Counseling website. My hope is that you will learn enough about me and my practice to help you in your search for a therapist. My clients experience a range of challenges, including symptoms related to anxiety, stress, and depression; grief and loss; identity development and life transitions; sexual and interpersonal violence; and relationship difficulties. And sometimes clients just need a space to explore complicated or strong emotions. My work with clients is rooted in evidence-based practices, and it is informed by 20 years in higher education. A special note to people who are members of historically marginalized or underrepresented groups: It is very important to me that you feel welcome and safe in my office. I strive to create an environment where you feel understood and respected.
DEPRESSION
Depression is one of the most common mood disorders in America. A combination of genetics, environment, biology, and general psychology can cause depression. When in the throes of depression, it may feel like it will never end. However, holistic treatment can effectively treat depression.
ANXIETY
Someone grappling with anxiety may feel restlessness, irritability, or worry. These feelings can interfere with work, school, relationships, and daily life. Clients may find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychotherapy, and/or Mindfulness activities helpful.
LIFE TRANSITIONS
Graduating from college, separating from a spouse, leaving a church, changing jobs, moving to a retirement home…Although these are common, sometimes natural, adjustments in the progression of life, they can be difficult, nevertheless. While life transitions can hold the promise of positive change, they can also lead us to struggle with our identity, our sense of belonging, and our self-worth.
GRIEF
We experience many kinds of loss during our life, including the loss of a loved one to death, the loss of a job, the end of a relationship, the loss of identity, and the loss of safety. Many people experience grief after a loss. Although sadness is often associated with grief, a web of tangled emotions like anger, relief, and guilt is just as common. Thoroughly processing a loss is integral to recovery.
